With over 22 years of teaching experience, Eric Layton is one of Virginia's most respected golf instructors. As the Director of Golf Instruction at The Country Club of Virginia for the past 10 years, Eric has honed his ability to work with golfers of all skill levels—from beginners to seasoned players—helping them improve their games with tailored, effective instruction.

A graduate of the Methodist College Professional Golf Management Program, Eric's extensive training and experience have shaped his holistic approach to golf instruction. His dedication to teaching has earned him numerous accolades, including the prestigious 2019 MAPGA Youth Player Development Award. Since 2016, he has been recognized as a Golf Digest Best Teacher in Virginia, a testament to his expertise and commitment to the growth of his students.

In addition to his teaching expertise, Eric is considered an expert club fitter. He leads a team of professionals who have consistently produced top account sales for Titleist, Ping, and Callaway, while also fitting clubs from leading brands like TaylorMade, XXIO, Mizuno, Cleveland, and Srixon. His in-depth knowledge of equipment ensures that each golfer has the best possible setup to complement their swing and improve performance on the course.

Known for his student-focused approach, Eric works to identify each golfer's unique strengths and areas for improvement. Whether it’s refining a swing, enhancing short game skills, or boosting course management, Eric's teaching philosophy emphasizes the fundamentals of the game while fostering a mindset for success. He believes that creating a positive, supportive learning environment is key to unlocking every player's potential.

He serves as the Player Development Leader at the Boar’s Head Resort in Charlottesville, VA, where he leads a comprehensive player development program focused on helping golfers of all levels. A graduate of the prestigious Clemson University Professional Golf Management (PGM) program, Rob has earned recognition as one of the top teachers in the game. He has been featured on Golf Digest’s rankings, including being named one of the Top Teachers in Virginia and one of the Best Young Instructors in the country.

In addition to his teaching success, Rob is a sought-after speaker, having presented at numerous golf coaching summits and PGA Education events.
